 Why are we Marching?

This section will contain news releases, articles and quotes from you - our co-sponsors, delegations, and supporters, expressing your reasons, motivations, and passions for organizing and participating in the March for Women's Lives. Tell us why YOU are marching. Submissions may be included on this page.

If you would not mind the press contacting you for more information about your story or quote, please state that in the email that you send. Thank you.

News:

Press Release: Statement of the National Organization for Women President Kim Gandy, November 5, 2003.

Quotes:

I am marching to protect a woman's fundamental right to make very private and personal decisions regarding her own body, her own life, and her own destiny. I am marching because I am outraged that George W. Bush and other (mostly male) politicians in Washington think they have the right to force a woman to carry a pregnancy and bear a child against her own will. I am marching because I do not ever want to return to the day of dangerous, back-alley abortions.

In a time of fervent patriotism, we need to remember that FREEDOM IS CHOICE and that curtailments of human rights and basic freedoms are the marks of a dictatorship, not a democracy.
